The Pretty Reckless: Light Me Up review

The Pretty Reckless, if you don't know them, are an alternative rock group fronted by singer, actress and model, Taylor Momsem (aka Gossip Girl Jenny Humphrey). Their debut album

Light Me Up is set to be released February 8th. After hearing them play at Warped Tour 2010 and buying their self-titled EP I was pretty excited to hear the album. I don't believe I was let down at all.

1.My Medicine- This song, as well as Makes Me Want To Die and Goin' Down, was on TPR's self titled EP. The song reminds me very much of the movie The Hangover. "There's a tiger in the room and a baby in the closet."

2.Since You're Gone- The guitar in this is just pure genius in this breakup/girl power (yes, I said girl power) song. Taylor doesn't give a f**k about her mysterious ex-love interest and wants everyone to know 'my life has moved along quiet nicely.'

3.Make Me Wanna Die- The first single and was featured on the Kickass movie soundtrack. The song helped define TPR to the world. It's a very 'edgey' song about the delights of being reckless and irresponsible.

4.Light Me Up- This track is a little slower then the previous ones on the album, and is also where the album gets its name. It's much more mellow then the rest of the album. The track seems to be about the attack Taylor receives from the media about how she dresses and acts.

5.Just Tonight- Another slow down track. Taylor seems to be showing her vocal ranges by preforming slower songs like this one, and then screaming her heart out on tracks such as the following track, Miss Nothing and My Medicine.

6.Miss Nothing- This songs gets the album back onto its loud and edgy feel. The song also has a music video that became quiet controversial on many media websites and blogs like buzznet. The song is packed with guitar riffs and of course, Taylor's incredible voice.

7.Goin' Down- Probably the most strange and sexual song on the album. Taylor seems to be singing to a priest about how she killed her lover and asks for forgiveness by offering to sleep with the priest? The story line seems a little crazy but it's also crazily catchy and will more then likey get stuck in your head after listening.

8.Nothin' Left To Lose- The album slows down again with this fan favorite. The track's melody is something very easy to fall in love with. If you're thinking of buying any of TPR's songs I strongly recommend this one.

9.Factory Girl- Everyone seems to know Taylor as little Miss Jenny Humpherys from Gossip Girl, and what do the girls on that show do best? If you said party then you're right. That's deffenitly what this song is about. TPR are bringing the classic rock and alternative genres back into the music scene with great pride and this song a great example of that.

10.You- The album finishes off with this simple and beautiful acoustic song. This song is very meaningful and probably the easiest for fans to relate with.

We Came As Romans--Josh

As all you WCAR fans know, this is Joshua Moore their guitarist. Josh is currently in a Nebraska hospital due to bacterial meningitis, which to those who do not know this is a very serious condition that can cause brain damage, or even death. Josh's father says he is responsive but isn't a hundred percent. The band, as well as the family and fans, are asking for your prayers. It is horrible to hear about anyone suffering from a live threatening disease but it seems like its worst when it's a iconic figure such as a musician.  Even if you don't like WCAR please keep them in your thoughts, prayers, ect.

The band also released this statement:

"It saddens us to see him in this state but we hope that everyone can wish him a speedy recovery and want to thank all of our fans for being understanding in this tough situation."

Avril Lavigne Song?

Avril Lavigne? The girl that fell for a skater boy then went pop/preppy? Yes, that Avril Lavigne.

She released a new song on her facebook fan page new year's day called "What The Hell." It's very similar to the type of radio music today: pop and trying to hard. I was a huge fan of Avril when I was growing up, but ever since The Best Damn Thing I haven't as sportive. This song make me wanna deny I ever listened to her. It's to much like a wanna be Katy Perry/Lady Gaga/Ke$ha song.

Zac And Josh Leaving Paramore.

Posted by SillyShannon on December 19, 2010 at 9:34 AM Comments comments (0)

The news has shocked many fans but the band wasn't surprised. After last Sunday's show in Orlando FL the two brothers offically parted from their band Paramore. Hayley Williams, lead singer of Paramore, was quoted saying, "A couple of months ago, Josh and Zac let us know they would be leaving the band after our show in Orlando last Sunday. None of us were really shocked. For the last year it hasn't seemed as if they wanted to be around anymore. We want Josh and Zac to do something that makes them happy and if that isn't here with us, then we support them finding happiness elsewhere.”

The band is still going though! Hayley, Jeremy and Taylor plea with their fans to stick with them through this stituation and that this experience has made them stronger then ever.

Paramore has been touring for their album Brand New Eyes since late 2009 and will finish up their tour in early March.

Love Enough EP Review

Posted by SillyShannon on December 14, 2010 at 4:08 PM Comments comments (0)

Last Saturday My Genuine Find, aka Bobby Mares of New Mexico, released his newest EP called Love Enough.

123- This song features rapper(and drummer of Scary Kids Scaring Kids) Mod Sun and singer Nickasaur. It also has clearly became the fan favorite. The song is a very positive pop song with a touch of rock. Although it seems like Nickasuar is not present in the song he is! Listen closely and he is echoing Bobby in the chorus and during bits of the verses. Mod Sun's short rap drenches the song in even more positivity. In my opinion, getting Mod Sun and Nickasaur to be featured in this song was genius. The two artists are all about happiness, positivity, and silliness just like MGF.

A Lot Like Love- The second track was the first single off the EP. Fans call this song "amazing" and "addictive." The track is very catchy and has a lot more real instruments then most of MGF's songs (besides his acoustic EP of course)

For Tonight- is the net song off the EP. It's much softer and calmer then the first two tracks. It has acoustic guitar and some violins, which aren't on any of the other songs. For Tonight is a cutesy love song that's sure to melt every MFG fans' hearts.

Gentlemen- The pop rock feeling comes back powerfully with this song. Bobby sings about how he wishes to be a gentleman and be with his love interest. The song has more of an electro feel than the other tracks from Love Enough.

Only You and Me- After hearing this song it became very clear why there is a astronaut on the album cover. The song is yet again a love song, but this one has more of a story. Bobby sings about how he is a 'spaceman' and how his love interest is his 'girl from below.' Although they live so faraway their love is unbreakable and Bobby will do anything to keep their love strong.

This song is my personal favorite.

Over all this EP is a huge love feast, but what did you except when you read the EP's title? My Genuine Find has defiantly matured musically. Love Enough is more clean and developed compared to past EPs such as What We Imaged.
